Privacy Policy

media.tatarverse is an open, non-commercial catalog of links to other people’s projects about the Tatar, Bashkir and Crimean Tatar languages and cultures. There is no sign-up, no accounts, and nothing is sold. We collect only what the site needs to work.

What is stored in your browser

The site is static and has no backend, so two things are kept locally and never sent anywhere:

  • Saved projects (“Saved”) - a list of card ids in localStorage.
  • Catalog view - grid or list.

These are not cookies: the data does not travel with any request. Clearing site data in your browser erases both, and the saved list along with them.

Analytics

On the current build, web analytics is disabled: neither Google Tag Manager nor Yandex Metrica is connected, their scripts are not loaded and they set no cookies. If analytics is ever enabled, this page will say so, and such cookies will be governed by that service’s own policy (Google, Yandex) - you can block them in your browser settings.

Like any web server, the hosting provider may record technical request data: IP address, device and browser type, the page requested. Those records exist for diagnosing failures, are not tied to a name or an email, and are not used for advertising.

The “Add a project” form

A submission from the form on the “Add a project” page travels like this: the form (the Tally service) - our handler - a public issue in the GitHub repository, from which a card is then written.

Hence the main point: everything you type into the form becomes public - the text of the submission is visible to anyone who opens the repository, and it stays in the history. Do not put personal details you would rather not publish into the form. A project name, a link and a contact you are comfortable showing are enough.

Tally’s own privacy policy applies to the form, and GitHub’s terms apply to the repository.

Data in the catalog cards

A card describes a public project and contains only what the project has already published: name, description, link, logo. We do not collect or publish authors’ contact details.

All cards live in an open repository, so their edit history is public.

The catalog is essentially a list of links. Following one takes you off media.tatarverse, and from there the policy of that site applies. We do not control how third-party projects handle your data.

Your rights

If your personal data has ended up somewhere on the site - in a project description, for example - write to us any of the ways below and we will remove it. Requests from project representatives are handled first.

Children

The site does not deliberately collect data and is not aimed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

This text may be updated, for example when new functionality appears. The date of the last change is shown at the top of the page, and the full edit history is open in the repository.
